How do I change the blog sidebar width in Weebly?

I read the post “How To Change The Fonts, Sizes, Width of Weebly Blogs and Sidebar” posted on October 7, 2011.

In my Weebly Free Template I am using I do not see any of the following CSS code as mentioned in the post “How To Change The Fonts, Sizes, Width of Weebly Blogs and Sidebar” posted on October 7, 2011.

I do not see any of the following:

.blog-sidebar {
width: 250px;
}

.column-blog {
float: right;
width: 235px;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}

.blog-sidebar {
display: none;
}

Could the sidebar be listed under another name in the CSS?

Thank you,
Ink8

You need to add that to main-style.css inorder to modify those parameters.

Weebly uses a built-in css for defining the blog. You can not modify the built-in css.
But you add it the above to your main-style.css to override the settings from the built-in css.

Where in the CSS do I place this code to adjust the width?

You can add it anywhere as long as it is not in the middle of some other definition. If you are not sure, simply add it after the last line of main-style.css

Can you past the exact code I need? Not working for me for some reason when I paste the code above. Deeply appreciated!

What is your site ? If you point to your blog page, it would be easier. It could depend on the theme if you are using a custom theme.

btw, I am assuming that you know how to get to the css. Try to add the following code and see:

.blog-sidebar {
    width: 250px;
}

.column-blog {
    float: right;
    width: 235px;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
}

Let us know how it goes.

@billyd3188, did you get what you are looking for ? I see that you applied changes to .blog-sidebar

If you set the .column-blog width to 205px, it would be wider by 30 pixels.

Thanks – I think so – How about changing to color, font and border?

Add the background-color parameter to the definition. Some thing like

background-color:#888;

is it possible to put blog sidebar below the blog, or maybe on top of it?

Cathy

Hi, I have used the codes above and it has worked to widen my side bar, I needed to go to 320 wide to fit the content into the side bar, the content within the blog itself is now too wide though and they are over lapping

Any Ideas?
