How to Add Multiple Authors, Editors and Administrators to Weebly Site

You can give permission to different people to edit and administer the weebly site. This can be very useful when you have more than one person changing different pages. It can also be very helpful when you have a third party administering your site. Free users can add additional Administrators only. Pro users can add Authors and also specify which pages can be modified by who. To add authors and administrators to weebly site, select the ‘Editors’ tab in weebly website editor.

Add more editors and administrators to weebly site

Select the Editors tab in weebly website editor and click ‘Add Editors’.

Depending on the account type (free or pro), you will have option to add email addresses of people who you would like to give permission to edit or administer the site.

Add Editors to weebly site

Enter the email address/addresses and select the role you would like to assign to this group of users

Free users can add administrators only, thus giving them full access to the site. But Pro users have a choice to give permission to different people limited and controlled editing rights. You can give permissions to edit only a few selected pages, or you can give them permission to view the statistics and moderate comments. To give selected permission to people, select the ‘Authors’ or ‘Dashboard’ option.

Permission to edit selected pages in weebly site

Select the pages you would like to give permissions for the specified user. You give different permissions to different people. Just repeat the process of adding editors for new editors.

Once you select the pages you would like to give permissions, emails will be sent to the users you specified. Separate cryptic links will be sent to the email ids where the additional user can register to edit the pages. By default, the authors you give permission to will also have the ability to publish the changes they made. If you would like to review the content before any one can publish the site, check the box that says ‘disable access to publish changes to live site’. This can be handy when you have a third party publishing content for you, where you would like to check the content for accuracy before it is published on the servers.

  1. Hi,
I would like to create a page on my website that grants author privileges to members of a group so that they can upload images from time to time.

Is there a maximum number of authors that I can add? I ask because the number of members in the group is approx 130.

    thank you

    • I believe you can add them. But you should check with Weebly though to see if there is a hard limit. If that does not work, try to create three or four pages and break them up according to some criteria or choice. 130 people uploading pictures to one page sounds a little scary. Your page might take forever to load.

  2. I forgot to add that I do indeed have a Pro account!
